PARMIGIANINO and European Mannerism June 5 till September 14, 2003 Kunsthistorisches Museum, Halls 8 - 10 1010 Vienna, Maria Theresien-Platz Exhibition Homepage >> |
To commemorate the 5th centenary of the birth of the important Italien Mannerist painter, Parmigianino, the Kunsthistorisches Museum will present a large monographic schow of his work. As Parmigianino executed the bulk of his work on panel or paper, and thus on particularly fragile supports, this will be the first and perhaps the only time that a comprehensive survey of the painter`s oeuvre is shown. The Kunsthistorisches Museum not only houses Parmigianino`s famous Self-Portrait but also a further five important paintings by him; this predestines it to host an extensive show that will present for the first time the achievements of this singular master and his international influence in a well-researched, comprehensive exhibition.
